Clearstream intends to provide foreign investors with access to Ukrainian domestic government bonds (DGB) in Q1 2019.
"The first quarter of the next year is one more window of opportunities and we work to open it," Vice President of Clearstream Jan Williams said during Ukrainian Financial Forum in Odesa, which was held by ICU, investment group.
As to him, the project implementation depends on technical issues along with external markets situation.
"If situation on emerging markets will be out of control it influences Ukraie as well," Yan Williams noted.
Nevertheless he added that the link to Ukraine would be definitely provided (correspondent accounts between the depository of the National Bank of Ukraine and Clearstream) taking into account the interest of foreign investors to Ukrainian government bonds.
Recall, Clearstream and NBU's depository has been negotiating the link creation between both organisations, in particular, account of the global depository in the Central Bank's depository since the beginning of 2017. Such innitiative will facilitate access of foreign investors to Ukrainian government bonds: foreign investors won't be required to open an account in Ukrainian bank if they have account in Clearstream. They can buy Ukrainian securities directly.
